Oak Honey
“∆ρυς” (Drys) in Greek means oak and the name comes from the “∆ρυάδες” (Dreades).
“∆ρυάδες” were the immortal and gorgeous, anthropomorphic nymphs of the forests, who lived mainly under oak trees and they used bees as messengers.
Produced by our bees from honeydew they collect from the oak trees at high altitudes on the slopes of Mt. Giona and Mt. Vardousia. It is darker, thicker, and less sweet than wildflower honey, with a rich woody, earthy flavour.
Oak honey is probably our most nutritious honey, rich in minerals like potassium, magnesium and iron as well as antioxidants.
