Thyme & Wildflower Honey

Pilgrims to the ancient site of Delphi most often arrived by sea, due to the difficulty of traversing Greece’s hilly and mountainous terrain. They would arrive at the ancient port of Kirra which served as the main disembarkation point for these visitors.

Upon arrival, for reasons of security and control, the arriving passengers would be transferred onto waiting triremes, which were light, fast, and agile warships propelled by three banks of oars.

One of these triremes was named “Eρωμένη”(Eromeni=mistress) and she provided a secure and safe tender, enabling and controlling the transfer and access of the pilgrims from the sea, through this ancient fortified port to the sanctuary and temple of Apollo, and its Oracle, also known as the “Delphian bee”.

We named our Wildflower honey “Eρωμένη” in honour of our local ancient heritage.

This honey is our second harvest of the year. It contains about 3-7% of thyme combined with wildflower honey which comes from three different wild areas in the Delphi municipality. It has a light yellow-amber colour. Very smooth and rich taste. Loved by kids. This is our best selling honey!
